Costa Rica 2024 - ITINERARY (tentative)
May 20 to May 31


April/May Orientation & Course work at BHCC prior to leaving for Costa Rica.
Three Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm (dates to be announced).

Day 1/May 20: Depart Boston early morning. Arrive in San Jose CR late afternoon. Overnight near San Jose.

Day 2/May 21: Travel to the Talamancas Mountains (cloud forest ecosystem).
Overnight at the Boruca Indian Reservation.

Day 3/May 22: Activities with the Boruca and community service project. Overnight with the Boruca.

Day 4/May 23: Late morning travel to Osa Peninsula. Overnight in Sierpe.

Day 5/May 24: Early morning boat trip down the Rio Sierpe. Arrive at the Campanario field station in the early afternoon. Orientation to the station and introductory hike into the forest. Overnight at Campanario.

Day 6/May 25: Field research activities. Visit to bat cave. Overnight in Campanario.

Day 7/May 26: Field research activities. Night hike through forest. Overnight in Campanario.

Day 8/May 27: All day hike to Corcovado National Park. Late afternoon free time. Overnight at Campanario.

Day 9/May 28: Service learning activity at local school. Free time to explore and relax. Final night in Campanario.

Day 10/May 29: Leave Campanario via the Rio Sierpe. Spend the day in Sierpe. Kayak the Rio Sierpe. Evening hike to search for dart frogs. Overnight in Sierpe.

Day 11/May 30: Leave for San Jose. Stop at Manuel Antonio National PARK. Opportunity to purchase souvenirs on the way back to San Jose. Farewell dinner in downtown San Jose.

Day 12/May 31: Departure back to the USA early afternoon. Arrive in Boston late Friday night.
